O que é Wisdom and Discernment

Wisdom and Discernment

Wisdom and discernment are two important qualities in the Christian faith. Wisdom is the ability to make sound judgments and decisions based on knowledge and understanding. It is often associated with the fear of the Lord, as Proverbs 9:10 states, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

Understanding Wisdom

Wisdom is not just about acquiring knowledge, but also about applying that knowledge in a way that honors God. It involves seeking God’s guidance and following His will in all aspects of life. In the Bible, wisdom is often personified as a woman who calls out to those who are willing to listen and learn.

Discernment in the Christian Faith

Discernment, on the other hand, is the ability to distinguish between right and wrong, truth and falsehood. It is closely related to wisdom, as one must have wisdom to discern properly. In Hebrews 5:14, it says, “But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.”

Seeking Wisdom and Discernment

As Christians, it is important to seek wisdom and discernment through prayer, studying the Word of God, and seeking counsel from mature believers. Proverbs 2:6-7 reminds us, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless.”

Applying Wisdom and Discernment

Once we have acquired wisdom and discernment, it is important to apply them in our daily lives. This means making decisions that align with God’s Word, seeking His will in all things, and being willing to stand firm in our faith even when faced with challenges or opposition.
